Dorian Schmelz // attorney at law

At a glance

Born in Vienna in 1980, Mag. Dorian Schmelz studied law at the University of Vienna and was awarded the ‘best of the best’ certificate in recognition of his academic achievements. In 2014, he passed the bar exam with distinction. Dorian’s professional career took him from a seven-year stint at one of Austria’s leading commercial lawfirms and several years at a medium-sized law firm to setting up his own practice as an attorney at law, which he did in 2015.

Outside the world of law, Dorian’s interests lie in behavioural psychology. He has completed further training in the fields of neuroscience, negotiation and influence at Harvard Business School, the MIT Sloan School of Management and the LSE London School of Economics and Political Science.

Dorian specialises in the law of associations, the law governing non-profit organisations, company law and property law. As one of the few lawyers in Austria, he also regularly represents organisations in matters relating to the Host State Law. He has been teaching property law and property management at Middlesex University London since 2021 and regularly publishes on topics relating to company law, the law of associations and civil procedure. He speaks German and English.
